Critical Courses
Thesis Track
For the Thesis Program, you must complete 30 credit hours of graduate coursework with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Courses include:
- EECE 500
- MCHE 508
- 3 credit hours of graduate courses from either the EECE department or another engineering department
- 12 hours of 500 and/or 400G level graduate courses in the EECE department; 6 of those credit hours must be two core department courses.
Your thesis must be approved by the graduate committee. To complete your thesis, you must have:
- a minimum of 6 hours of thesis work,
- a successful verbal defense of thesis material, and
- a presentation of the thesis to a general audience that includes the thesis committee and graduate faculty.
Non-Thesis Track
For the non-thesis program, you must complete 36 credit hours of graduate coursework with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Courses include:
- EECE 500
- MCHE 508
- 6 credit hours of graduate courses from either the EECE department or another engineering department
- 18 hours of 500 and/or 400G level graduate courses in the EECE department; 6 of those credit hours must be two core department courses.
- Two 3-credit-hour independent study courses over two consecutive semesters. These courses must be under the same major professor and you must produce a research report based on the independent study.
To graduate, you must have a satisfactory performance on the oral comprehensive exam.
